Laser Light Scattering for Aerosol Size Distribution Analysis
Laser light scattering is a proven technique to analyze the size distribution of fine particles. And aerosols are suspensions of solid or liquid particles in a gas, such as air.
When a laser beam passes through fine particles, the laser beam is scattered into different angles according to the particle sizes. A larger particle scatter light at small angles relative to the laser beam and small particles scatter light at large angles. Particle size is then determined from the variation of light intensity of the scattered light as a function of scattering angle.
Through an array of analysis, the mass/volume distribution of droplet diameters, numerical distribution of droplet diameters (D10, D50 and D90, which represents the point on the cumulative size distribution curve below 10%, 50% and 90%, respectively) and the mean droplet diameter based on the well-known Rosin-Rammler method can be obtained.

Aerosol particle size analyzers can typically provide real-time measurement of particles ranging from a few nanometers to several micrometers in diameter. The range of our particle size measurement is between 0.5 to 150µm. Along with the software that enables data visualization, such as particle size distribution graphs and statistical analysis.
